„Next one!“ – the mayor of Bosilegrad Vladimir Zaharijev lay back in his chair. An old man entered. They are shaking hands. “What can I do for you?”, the mayor asked. The guest is explaining the situation. He needs to go to the doctors at Sofia Military-Medical Academy hospital because of heart disease. Mayor is solving problem – arranging car.
Today old man is not the only one. There are still around 15-20 people waiting in front of the mayor´s office. He runs this place as feudal count like in “good old times”. It works – he has been re-elected since 14 years. This place in Southern Serbia, whose citizens are Bulgarians, has the only mayor that comes from political party that has “Democratic” in prefix, Democratic Serbian Party.
